Pantone Names Two Colors of the Year for 2021

For 20 years,  Pantone’s Color of the Year  has impacted product development and purchasing decisions in numerous industries from design and fashion to home furnishing. The Pantone Color of the Year is carefully selected every year by a group of color experts at the Pantone Color Institute. These experts consider influencing factors such as the entertainment industry, films in production, new lifestyles, and new technologies.

This year, Pantone Institute has chosen two colors to be named Pantone Colors of the Year 2021. Known as the “global color authority,” Pantone chooses colors each year that are meant to serve as a reflection of what is happening in culture. The 2021 Pantone Colors of the Year have been announced as PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of The Pantone Color Institute, commented about the color choices:

“The union of an enduring Ultimate Gray with the vibrant yellow Illuminating expresses a message of positivity supported by fortitude. Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this is a color combination that gives us resilience and hope. We need to feel encouraged and uplifted; this is essential to the human spirit.”
